Best Pacific Northwest Drives – Area 27 in Oliver B.C.
Oliver B.C. is an unlikely constellation in the Aston universe. Being “Capital of Canada’s Wine Country” hardly explains it. Yet there you find VelocityAP, a rare Aston specialist outside the UK, and the Aston-friendly Area 27 track day they generously sponsored. Having made encouraging noises at the prior year’s AMOC event in Victoria I felt bad for having a work conflict. But things change, and I was able to belt North after work on Tuesday and join the fun. Being on the track in an Aston is not always much fun … they are Grand Tourers, and we drivers are generally not racers. But being on the track with other Astons was extremely fun! Straight to the obligatory 3.5 minute ride-along:
For the dedicated Aston afficionado, note how in the straightaways the V12 Vantage disappears ahead of me. Video does not do it justice. A kind spirited driver there and lighter weight on my end kept the train together.
Bonus material that deserves it’s own post another time … the drive down the Grand Coulee is breathtaking. Very hard to edit down to a digestible length. If you are in for it, grab a drink and a comfortable chair first. (14 minutes!)
