Best Pacific Northwest Drives – The Snail Trail

At Leschi cars & coffee Radley Angelo and I lamented the fact that most of the organized drives in the Northwest are  tailored to supercars and don’t draw many of the cool older European cars in the area. Thus was born the “Snail Trail”, a drive for old, slow European cars as a prelude to the epic Avants Classics on the Green. Not much more than a Facebook post, it still drew 5 very cool cars and 8 cool people. With no hints dropped only convertibles showed up, and the weather cooperated.

Planning a shorter variation on Dan’s Drive The Local 2.0 we did a test run and were very glad we did, because Ben Howard road was about to be closed for construction. At first this was a disappointment, followed by the realization that a closed road has no traffic and makes for a great photo opp.

The cars ranged from modern classics like the E30 BMW to the iconic Jaguar E-type. Austin Healey 3000’s dominated by their numbers:
