A Brief Homage to the PNW Aston Martin Owners Group

Having just returned from my first Exotics@RTC, where 16 local Aston owners convened, it is a good time to recognize that group and how much they add to the Aston experience here. Not officially a part of the Aston Martin Owners Club, this Facebook group is the center of gravity for Aston-related goings-on, advice, and opinions. The group was very welcoming when I showed up as a newbie (thank you Robin, Chris, Heather and Tim!), and I can’t imagine I would have shown up at a car show, as an exhibitor, and on my own to face hundreds of very special cars without them. A 7AM pre-meet was organized and a jaw-dropping array of Astons proceeded to the event. Even more showed up over time. It was opening day for the year and the turnout was impressive (perhaps 350 rare cars?), but it seemed like the “thugs” (parking marshals) had planned for it and none of the latecomers were turned away.

The British row was naturally well populated with Astons, though it seemed incongruent to be parked up a bunch of wild and extreme McLarens. That’s a very different demographic. Very different cars. Majestic in their own way, but what a contrast. Quirkier still was having 4 DeLoreans. It took me a quick minute … oh, yes. Built in Northern Ireland and therefor British. Those thugs know their stuff. One of them was one of us, as it were, with a stunning green Vantage in the first parking spot. (The best plate I noticed was on one of the DeLoreans: RUN DMC. Ha.)

Not much more to say except that it was a great event and wonderful way to meet some other owners in real life. As you’d expect they are an understated set of very interesting people with a taste for cars and beautiful things. No lack of engaging conversation. If you are here reading this it is likely you are an Aston owner in the Northwest. If so here is a portal to goodness: Pacific NW Aston Martin Owners | Groups | Facebook
